Application Process

We offer multiple annual scholarships to qualified students studying agriculture-related coursework at land grant universities in Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wyoming.

Selection Criteria

  • College junior or senior in good academic standing for the academic year scholarship is received.
  • Enrolled in agriculture-related coursework at a land grant university in Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota or Wyoming. See land grant online link for specific coursework emphasis criteria.
  • Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 preferred.
  • Preference is given to residents of Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota or Wyoming.
  • One- to two-page essay on how the applicant plans to use his/her major in the chosen career (which must be in an agribusiness-related field).
  • Agricultural background or work-related experience in agriculture.
  • Previous Frontier Farm Credit scholarship winners are not eligible.

Application Criteria

  • Confirm you are eligible based on the selection criteria.
  • Complete the online scholarship application for Kansas State University online.
  • Include a one- to two-page essay explaining your career plans following graduation, which must be in an agribusiness-related field.
  • Applications and essays are screened by the universities.
  • After the winners are determined, scholarship recipients will be notified.

Frontier Farm Credit offers scholarships to qualified students pursuing a degree in agriculture at participating community colleges and technical institutes in Kansas. Application deadlines and processes vary by college.

Selection Criteria

  • Eligible candidates must be pursuing a degree in agriculture for the 2024-2025 academic year.
  • Eligible candidates must be a traditional (age 18–22) full-time sophomore student enrolled in agricultural coursework.
  • Candidates must possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Applicants must have a permanent residence in Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota or Wyoming.
  • Preference is given to those who intend to return to the farm/ranch or a farm-related job in a rural community.
  • Financial need will not be a consideration.

Application Criteria

  • Confirm you are eligible based on the selection criteria.
  • Students apply directly through their selected participating college either online or on campus. Application deadlines and processes vary by college.
  • The top applications are selected and notified by the college and the Frontier Farm Credit scholarships are processed through the college.
  • The scholarship amount is paid out as follows: $1,000 paid in fall 2024 semester and $1,000 paid in spring 2025 semester to each recipient.
